Senior Healthcare Data Analyst
Mend
About Mend
Mend is a healthcare technology and services company dedicated to improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency through data-driven insights and innovative care delivery models. We partner with providers, payors, and healthcare organizations to deliver advanced analytics, remote patient monitoring, and clinical care pathways that enhance the quality of care while driving measurable business results.
We are looking for a Senior Healthcare Data Analyst who can combine technical expertise with strategic business acumen to deliver impactful insights that shape healthcare operations and decision-making.
Role Overview
The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst will play a critical role in transforming healthcare data into actionable insights for clinical and business stakeholders. This is not a traditional reporting role—we are seeking someone who will proactively identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and partner with stakeholders to drive strategic decisions.
You will be expected to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions, create intuitive self-service dashboards, and act as a thought partner to senior leaders. Your work will directly influence patient care operations, business strategy, and product innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Analytical
- Leverage strong technical skills (SQL, Excel, Tableau, Python, QuickSight, or other BI tools) and healthcare industry knowledge (payor, provider, pharmacy, public health, epidemiology, etc.) to deliver meaningful analyses.
- Extract, analyze, and present data to improve patient care operations, streamline processes, and inform high-impact decisions.
- Design and build innovative reporting and analytics solutions to help stakeholders understand the drivers behind key business and product outcomes.
- Develop and maintain automated processes and scalable reporting solutions to reduce manual reporting overhead.
- Mine data from multiple disparate sources and transform it into clear, actionable insights with strong storytelling and visualization.
Business Partnering & Strategic Insight
- Act as a strategic thought partner to business and clinical stakeholders, proactively identifying trends, risks, and opportunities that may not be explicitly requested.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications while ensuring solutions directly address organizational goals.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define success metrics and KPIs that align with business outcomes.
- Advocate for and implement self-service analytics capabilities, enabling stakeholders to access and interpret data independently.
Key Competencies
- Deep expertise in analytics, BI tools, and data engineering best practices.
- Skilled at building intuitive dashboards and tools that empower stakeholders to answer their own questions.
- Ability to look beyond immediate requests and identify broader business implications, technical considerations, opportunities, and risks.
- Comfortable challenging assumptions, asking the right questions, and shaping decision-making through data storytelling.
Qualifications
While we encourage sharing knowledge and collaborating on projects whenever needed, the candidate will also be expected to take on projects from start to finish with little guidance using independent research and leveraging best practices from previous projects.
- Bachelor's degree required; quantitative field (e.g. economics, data science, informatics, etc.)
- Master's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in healthcare informatics preferred
- 5+ years of experience using SQL, Excel, Tableau, Python, QuickSight (or other BI tools) required
- Experience with statistical, financial, and performance analysis
- Experience with ETL and data warehousing best practices
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and take initiative with limited direction
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong quantitative analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent planning, organizational and task management skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with managers and employees, along with working with external clients, or customers
